Obituary: Sgt. Fernando Moreno-Rivas, 30, of Stratford
Moreno-Rivas was a U.S. Army Medic who served in Afghanistan. He graduated Notre Dame-Fairfield in 2004.

Sargent Fernando Moreno-Rivas, U.S. Army, 30, of Stratford, and Evans Mills, N.Y., died Thursday May 19, 2016 in Shelton from injuries to an auto accident.
Sgt. Moreno-Rivas, was born in Quito, Ecuador and was an area resident most of his life. He was currently serving in the United States Army as a medic he served in Afghanistan. Fernando was a graduate of Notre Dame Catholic High School in Fairfield, in 2004. He returned to his alma mater in 2013 to speak to students on Veterans Day. He was very instrumental in getting Notre Dame to collect school supplies for children in Afghanistan.

He is survived by his daughter Arianna and several other family members and numerous friends.
Relative and friends are invited to attend his Funeral on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 10 a.m. directly at Holy Family Roman Catholic Curch, 700 Old Stratfield Rd, in Fairfield for a Mass of Christian Burial.

Interment services will take place at Mt Grove Cemetetr in Bridgeport with full Military Honors.
Friends may call at the Funeral Home, on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m.
