Obituary: Stephen C. Hessel, 45, of Fairfield

Stephen C. Hessel, 45, beloved husband of Meghan Gorman Hessel, of Fairfield passed away on Monday, September 19, 2016 while on his morning run living life to the fullest as he always did. He had just returned from parents’ weekend and spending it with his family at University of South Carolina.

In addition to Meghan, his devoted wife of 20 years, Steve will be remembered by his three children Christopher, Cole and Caroline; his parents, Cathy and Ray Hessel; his parents-in-law, Peter and Grace Gorman; his sister, Gretchen Hessel; his sister-in-law, Laura Potenza, his brother-in-law, Brian Gorman; nephews, Joey and Jack Potenza and niece, Catherine Potenza.

Steve was a graduate of Fairfield High School and Central Connecticut State University. He possessed a real passion for his family and friends, and was the quintessential host with his door always open for company. Steve embraced all life had to offer and inspired others to do the same. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Calling hours will be held Thursday (Sept.22) from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday 11 a.m. directly in Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Road, Fairfield. A private interment in Oak Lawn Cemetery will immediately follow.
