Obituary: Susan Lee Shapiro, 69, Of Fairfield

Susan Lee Shapiro, age 69, of Fairfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by love on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022, in Bridgeport. Sue was born in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Sidney and Evelyn Shapiro.

Sue is survived by her beloved daughter, Sonny, her son, Shea, her grandchildren,
Cameron and Zoey, and her brother, Michael. She is pre-deceased by her husband, David. Sue was a free spirit who loved to travel. She loved to play tennis and pickleball. Her second home was in Sun Valley, Idaho, where she loved to ski and spend time outdoors and with friends. She also enjoyed scuba diving in various exotic locations. Sue was loved everywhere she went. She battled Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS/Lou Gehrig's Disease) for close to eight years. Never once did she let her disease affect her spirit. She smiled up until she said goodbye. Sue will truly be missed by all who knew her. She will be remembered for her strength, carefree spirit, and her radiant positivity.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at Loyalty Cemetery, 172 Burroughs Road, Fairfield, with a livestream available at www.greensfuneralhome.com. Shiva services were held at the Shapiro residence directly following funeral services.
