Obituary: Tessie DeMattia, 96, Of Southport

Tessie DeMattia, 96 of Southport, the beloved wife of the late Liberty Michael DeMattia, passed
away peacefully on Tuesday, August 15, 2023. She was born in Norwalk to the late Patsy and
Josephine DeMace and was a lifelong area resident. Tessie was a chef who worked for over 40
years with her brother, Frank DeMace, the founder of Mario’s Place in Westport.

Tessie is survived by her daughter, Linda Voulgarakis and her husband James of West Haven; her
son, James DeMattia of Dummerston, VT; grandchildren, Dawn Blinn, Libby Mazzella, David
Aronson, Nikki Voulgarakis and Harry Voulgarakis; as well as four great-grandchildren. In
addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Sandra Blinn; siblings, Dominick,
Frank, Michael and Joseph DeMace and Marie Wallace; and granddaughter, Jacqueline Perez.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Shaughnessey
Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Rd. in Fairfield. Friends may greet her family one hour prior to
the service. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
