Obituary: Virginia Ann McLevy, 68, of Fairfield

Together with her husband, Charlie, she owned and operated McLevy Builders in Fairfield for 40 years. She was also a nurse for 17 years.

Virginia A. (Ginny) McLevy, nee Ives, 68, of Fairfield, CT, beloved wife of the late Charles (Charlie) McLevy, passed away on October 17, 2018. Born in Bridgeport, CT, the daughter of the late Dr. Eli B. and Virginia L. Ives, she had been a lifelong Fairfield resident.

Mrs. McLevy attended Unquowa School and graduated from the Stockbridge School in Interlaken, MA. She attended Bard College and later graduated from the Sacred Heart School of Nursing with her BSN. Mrs. McLevy worked as a dedicated nurse at Bridgeport Hospital for 17 years. Together with her husband, Charlie, she owned and operated McLevy Builders in Fairfield, CT for 40 years. She loved being outdoors, gardening, participating in political discourse, and traveling, but above all else, she loved being with her family and working alongside her son Josh.

She is survived by three children, Dr. Jennifer McLevy-Bazzanella and her husband, John Bazzanella, of Memphis, TN; Joshua McLevy and Tamara Silver, of Fairfield, CT; and Kimberly Garamella-Tankersley and her husband Ronnie Tankersley of Stockton, CA; three grandchildren, Jack and Charlie Bazzanella; and Remy Tankersley; and her sister, Sarah Ives of Toronto, Canada. A service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 10 a.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Friday, October 19, 2018 from 5-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
