Out-Of-State Chicken Restaurant Opens 1st CT Eatery In Fairfield
Lovebird, a Philadelphia-area chicken restaurant, is expanding to Connecticut.

FAIRFIELD, CT — At Lovebird, good things come to those who wait.
The much-anticipated chicken restaurant, a fixture in the Philadelphia area, opened its first Connecticut eatery earlier this month in Fairfield. Located at 2385 Black Rock Turnpike, the business now occupies the storefront that was formerly home to the Connecticut Cookie Co.
“People were just really excited that we’re open,” said managing partner Stephanie Wilson, who is overseeing the Fairfield location. “We’re really thankful for the community’s support.”

Lovebird is a high-quality, fast-casual eatery, according to Wilson. Popular menu items include the signature chicken sandwich, made with cage-free Amish chicken and brioche buns from Connecticut-based Wave Hill Breads, as well as the chicken buckets, popcorn chicken and fries.
“Everything is hand-made in house,” Wilson said, detailing how the chicken undergoes a three-day brine seasoning process and the restaurant ships in a proprietary blend of gluten-free flour.

Because everything is made to order, customers should plan for a 15- to 20-minute wait.
“The love and care put into this takes a bit more of a wait time,” Wilson said. “You have a superior product that you get through that process.”
Lovebird’s business model is primarily built around takeout. Customers can call ahead and pick up their food, order on the Lovebird app and earn loyalty points or use DoorDash, or order through Uber Eats.
Wilson credited her staff for a successful soft opening.
“They care so much about doing a great job and creating a superb product,” she said.
The town of Fairfield is excited to welcome Lovebird, according to Community and Economic Development Director Mark Barnhart.
“It’s always great to have another dining option and add another venue to our already vibrant restaurant scene,” he said.
While Wilson, a Wilton resident, is currently focused on the Fairfield business, she hopes to possibly expand Lovebird’s Connecticut footprint to other Fairfield County towns in the future.
