I have been in ministry leadership for 25 Years. In addition, I have been a teacher for both preschool and elementary school children for 15 years. I also manage my husband's business and am a personal health/nutrition coach.
Do you have a family? If so, please tell us about them.
Yes, I am married and have two children.
Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?
No
Have you ever held a public office, whether appointive or elective?
Yes. Have been in the RTC for 4 years. Was a member of Human Services, and also a member of the Registration Committee for the Registrar of Voters.
Now we'd like to ask a few questions about your reasons for running and your general views on politics and government. First, why are you seeking this office?
I feel it is our duty as American citizens to run for public office in order to effect change in the community.
Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is \_\_\_, and this is what I intend to do about it.
While there are several areas that might be pressing, my role as RTM would be to support the First Selectwoman in getting policies/budgets passed in order to continue to responsibly restore faith in our town government with transparency and accountability.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I would like to work with my team in District 3 to protect our town from the influences that have had or may have a negative impact on our community. Our team stands for a small town community feel that supports families fighting for affordability, local control, investing in our schools and infrastructure, and maintaining accountability within the town government.
If you are challenging an incumbent, in what way has the current officeholder failed the community?
We need to have unity within each district. If the district is divided, then we cannot unite in areas that are community minded. Therefore, it is critical for each district to hold the majority. My district needs to win all four (4) seats in order to fight for affordability, local control, investing in our schools and infrastructure, and maintaining accountability within the town government. We are committed to our community and want to actively show this.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
Strong family values make for strong communities in which families, both young and old, can thrive.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I hold a Masters in Education from Fairfield University and have been nominated to be a member of the Alpha Sigma Nu National Honor Society which places a strong emphasis on what its have members have given to and have accomplished in their communities. In addition, as a ministry leader in our community, it has been my goal to lead others to healing and wholeness. In this endeavor, there has never been a time I looked back and regretted the way in which I handled each and every person walking this journey. It has been exciting to come alongside many and see them succeed in life. In addition, as a leader of a women's advisory council, my goal is to problem solve. Wherever there are problems, small or large, there are always solutions. I would like to be part of the solution to solve any problems or issues that need addressing in our town. Whenever and wherever we can unite, we can most certainly succeed!
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
Whenever faced with a problem, if I have to question my answer or question the solution to that problem, the best thing for me to do is wait and do not answer or act. In the pause (or in the "wait"), the best answer or solution will come.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
It is my hope that the voters will find me a good fit for this position.
