Woman Fatally Struck By Train In Fairfield: Authorities

Police are investigating the crash but it is not believed to be a criminal incident, according to authorities.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A 43-year-old woman died after she was hit by a train Sunday in Fairfield, according to authorities.

The collision occurred around 12:15 p.m., when a westbound Metro-North train struck an unauthorized person on the tracks east of the Fairfield Station, MTA Police Department spokesperson Aaron Donovan said. Law enforcement is investigating the crash but it is not believed to be a criminal incident, according to Donovan.

The identification of the victim is pending notification of next of kin, Donovan said.

New Haven Line trains were experiencing delays between Green’s Farms and Bridgeport of up to 65 minutes as a result of the crash but had resumed running on or close to schedule as of 3:42 p.m.
