PHOTOS: Fairfield Celebrates Hanukkah With Giant Menorah Lighting
Chabad of Fairfield hosted a menorah lighting Sunday on Sherman Green.
FAIRFIELD, CT — After the sun went down Sunday in Fairfield, a giant Hanukkah menorah brought light to Sherman Green.
Sunday marked the first night of the eight-day holiday. Chabad of Fairfield celebrated with a Hanukkah story trail and downtown menorah lighting. The event also included Hanukkah music, Hasidic dancing, Hanukkah treats such as latkes and donuts, and a "gelt drop," with chocolate coins dropped from the basket of a Fairfield Fire Department truck.
Chabad of Fairfield will also host a family menorah parade Thursday, which will thread its way through downtown Fairfield beginning 6 p.m. at Chabad of Fairfield, 452 Brookside Drive, and be followed by a menorah lighting 6:30 p.m. at the Pequot Library, 720 Pequot Ave.
