Police Seize 3 Pounds Of Cannabis In Drug Bust In Fairfield

The arrest was made during a traffic stop as part of an ongoing investigation, according to police.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield Police seized more than three pounds of cannabis and arrested a Rhode Island man after a traffic stop Thursday afternoon, according to Lt. Robert Kalamaras. After an ongoing investigation from the Fairfield Police Detective Bureau, a traffic stop was conducted at about 4:45 p.m. on Jan. 3 in the area of Garden Drive in Fairfield, according to Kalamaras.

Kalamaras said the driver and sole occupant, Samuel Burroughs, was found to be in possession of more than three pounds of cannabis and was taken into custody without incident.

Burroughs, 28, of Cranston, Rhode Island, was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance more than ½ ounce of cannabis, sale of 1 Kg or more of cannabis and possession of a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a school. He was released on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on Jan. 14.
