Police Warn Of 'Grandparent Scam' In Fairfield
The scammer posed as a resident's grandson, claiming he was hurt and needed money, according to Fairfield police.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield police are warning residents of a recent “grandparent scam” in town.
The incident occurred about 10 a.m. Tuesday, when a Bungalow Avenue resident received a call from a person pretending to be the resident’s grandson, police said. The caller said he was hurt and needed money, according to police, but the resident recognized the scam and ended the call without sending any payment.
“Grandparent Scams/Schemes have begun to resurface across the state,” police said. “We encourage residents to talk to their elderly loved ones about these scams and educate them on how to recognize them. If you receive one of these calls, contact police and do not send any money. If a relative truly needs help, the police can assist in confirming that for you."
