FAIRFIELD, CT — Police are warning residents of a phone scam in which the caller claims to be a Fairfield police officer and says the person is wanted by the department on an active arrest warrant.
Several residents reported receiving the call on Wednesday, according to police.
“Please know that this is a scam and that the Fairfield Police Department does not notify individuals by phone of existing arrest warrants and we NEVER collect bond/bail payment over the phone,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “Should you ever doubt the legitimacy of such a phone call, please contact us at (203) 254-4800 and select Option 9 to speak with the on-duty desk officer.”
