Public Meeting Scheduled To Review Fairfield's Flood & Erosion Control Plan

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield’s Flood Prevention Climate Resilience and Erosion Control Board is scheduled to review coastal and inland flood-control strategies Thursday as part of the town’s developing Master Flood & Erosion Control Plan.

The special public meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at the Fairfield Fire Training Center, Room 102, 205 Richard White Way. The meeting will be held in a hybrid format, with participation also available through Zoom, and streamed via FairTV.

Thursday's meeting comes on the heels of Sunday's heavy rainstorm, which flooded sections of Fairfield and other parts of the state.

The meeting is intended to present the current status of the Master Flood & Erosion Control Plan, which is under development by the town.

Board members and other participants are scheduled to receive an overview of the plan followed by a presentation on coastal and inland strategies. The agenda also calls for a discussion of next steps.

Participants are then scheduled to break into four focus areas for question-and-answer sessions.

"Please note, if you participate remotely, you will not be heard by board members and there will be no live public comment until called for by the Chair," the agenda reads. "Public Comment will be heard with all voting items (excluding the approval of minutes)."
