Purse Snatched In Fairfield Store Parking Lot: Police

After the purse snatching, the spouse of the victim grabbed the wheel of the fleeing vehicle, causing it to hit a parked car, police said.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A purse was recently stolen outside a Fairfield store, according to police.

The theft occurred about 4 p.m. Feb. 23 in the parking lot of BJ's Wholesale Club on Black Rock Turnpike, police said. After the purse snatching, the spouse of the victim grabbed the wheel of the fleeing vehicle, causing it to strike a parked car, according to police.

The victim was evaluated on scene by medical personnel, while the suspects fled in a vehicle that was found to have been reported stolen Feb. 21 in Shelton, police said. The victim's credit card was later used at a Walmart in West Haven, and the vehicle was recovered Wednesday in New Haven, according to police, who said the incident remains under investigation.
