Renovated Fairfield I-95 Southbound Service Plaza Opens Thursday
The plaza is the 20th out of 23 state highway service plazas to be completely renovated.
The renovated I-95 Fairfield Southbound Service Plaza will open on Thursday, March 12 featuring new amenities along with a series of “green” features.
The plaza, which will officially open at 12 noon, includes McDonald’s, Subway, Dunkin’ Donuts, an Alltown Convenience Store and an ExxonMobil gas station.
It marks the 20th out of 23 state highway service plazas to be completely renovated.

“Our Connecticut Service Plaza team is excited to provide great food choices, clean restrooms, fuel and convenience to the large number of travelers who pass through the Fairfield area,” Paul Landino, President and CEO of Project Service, said in a press release “We have completed 20 of the service plazas so far, and look forward to continuing to serve those traveling on Connecticut’s highways as we work to renovate the remaining service plazas in the state.”
The Fairfield Southbound plaza, as well as all the other plazas that have been or will be renovated, has a series of “green” features. The service plaza will qualify to operate to “Silver LEED” standards.

The Fairfield facility will utilize photovoltaic solar panels, which decreases its dependence on traditional power sources. Each service plaza also has facilities for single-stream recycling and idle-reduction technology for tractor-trailers. Other environmentally conscious features include water-efficient rest rooms, energy-efficient insulation and lighting, state-of-the-art and super-efficient heating and air conditioning units.
The plazas also have clean restrooms, free WiFi and backup power generators for use during a power outage.
