Report: More Than 500 Students Attend Fairfield Beach Party

It was back to the beach for returning Fairfield University students on Saturday.

Back to school met back to the beach with more than 500 Fairfield University students attending parties at Lantern Point at one point on Saturday, according to the Fairfield Citizen.

The Citizen reports that the number of students exceeded a long-standing court injunction that limits gatherings at the private residential association to 250 people, which was originally imposed to control the springtime Clam Jam party.

However, police told the Citizen that the number of people at the parties is a civil issue and not a criminal one.

A private security firm hired by the homeowner group’s association eventually broke up the party on Saturday night and a large number of students were transported by Uber cars and it took 45 minutes to clear the streets, according to the Citizen.
