Death Investigation Conducted By Fairfield Police: UPDATE
Fairfield police put out an announcement about the investigation on Longdean Road on Monday afternoon. Update.
FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield police are investigating a death at a home on Longdean Road, which led to a temporary "remain indoors" request for residents in the area. Police have lifted that order, but said a "small police presence will remain in the area as the scene is cleared and follow-up investigation is conducted."
The incident began with a request for a welfare check on a resident who lived on the road.
"The subject did not show up to work and was not answering calls from the employer, which prompted a call to police," wrote Sgt. Michael Stahl in a statement. "Upon arrival at the home, Officers located a note indicating that the subject could be found in the garage. While on scene, Officers then heard a gunshot come from the area of the garage and began to setup a perimeter around the house and secure the area."

"The Fairfield Police Department Emergency Services Unit responded and safely cleared the home, locating the subject deceased within the garage," Stahl said. "At this time, the identity of the subject is being withheld pending notification to next of kin."
