UPDATE: Search Continues for Missing Fairfield Native in Upstate New York

Update:

Rochester police continued to search Wednesday morning for Fairfield native Max Maisel, 21, who has been missing since Sunday night when he was last seen leaving the Perkins Green apartment complex at the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York.

Maisel’s car was found parked near the Charlotte Pier at Lake Ontario on Monday.

Maisel is the son of ESPN senior writer Ivan Maisel.

The family released a statement on Wednesday afternoon through the Rochester Police Department.

In the statement, via Rochester ABC affiliate WHAM, the family thanked law enforcement personnel who have worked with them in their search and said:

“We are heartbroken. At this point we still have more questions than answers. We are asking for the public, including the RIT college community, to help us as we continue our search for Max and try to reconstruct where he has been and when.

Max was a photographer and was last seen in the vicinity of Charlotte Beach, an area that he had visited for many years. He felt very comfortable there.

It is an area that sees many other visitors, year-round, including birders with cameras. We ask that anyone who believes they may have recently seen someone matching Max’s description report that to the police by calling 911.

Rochester police are searching for Fairfield native Max Maisel, 21, who was last seen Sunday night leaving the Perkins Green apartment complex at the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York.

Maisel is a third-year professional photographic illustration student at the school, according to RIT’s website.

Maisel is the son of ESPN senior writer Ivan Maisel, according to multiple reports.

NBC Connecticut reports that Max Maisel’s car was found parked near the Charlotte Pier at Lake Ontario on Monday.

While there was no sign of Maisel, the Rochester Police Department said “there is no indication of foul play.”
