Connecticut Magazine's 'Best of Connecticut' 2016 List: Do You Agree?

If you've lived in Connecticut for a while, you probably already have your favorites. Your go-to place for the best burger, that spot you sneak off to for cupcakes, the annual country fair you wouldn't dare miss.

Connecticut Magazine hears you, and to help you out, each year for the past 19, it lists the Best of Connecticut, or what it affectionately refers to as The Connecticut Story.

“For 19 years, we at Connecticut Magazine have been compiling all the things we love and want to share about the state,” writes authors Kate Hartman, Erik Ofgang and Albie Yuravich. “And we simply never get tired of bringing you the best of what makes Connecticut such a special place, from burgers to beaches, pizza to performing arts and water parks to women’s wear.”

The list is divided into three main sections Food & Drink; Fun & Leisure; and Shopping, and within those sections are dozens and dozens of categories and where to find the best example within the state.

More than 160 places, stores, restaurants and things from around the Nutmeg State received Best-of honors, and here are some of the highlights:

Best Bakery - Eddy’s Bake Shop, Ansonia

Best Breakfast - O’Rourke’s Diner, Middletown

Best Pie - Bishop’s Orchards, Guilford

Best Food Truck (Savory) - The Meat Truck, New Haven

Best Outdoor Bar - Barcelona, Fairfield

Best Action Park - Brownstone Exploration & Discovery Park, Portland

Best Farm Orchard - Lyman Orchards, Middlefield

Best Golf Course (Public) - Lake of Isles Golf Club and Resort, North Stonington

Best Sports Complex - Chelsea Piers Connecticut, Stamford

Best Med Spa - Versailles Medical Spa, Darien

Best Flea Market - The Elephant’s Trunk, New Milford

Best Florist - Fleurescent Flower Shop, Milford

Best Jewelry Store - Quality Gem, Bethel

Best Bike Shop - The Devil’s Gear Bike Shop, New Haven
