Sacred Heart University Student Dies After Being Hit By A Car
The student was struck by a car Friday afternoon across the street from her sorority house.

A Sacred Heart University student who was is in critical condition Friday afternoon after being struck by a motor vehicle while crossing the street Friday in Bridgeport died as a result of her injuries, officials said Saturday morning.
Junior Kaitlyn Doorhy, of Mattituck, New York, died as a result of the injuries she sustained.
The accident happened across the street from a Sacred Heart sorority house where victim lived, according to the Connecticut Post.

Sacred Heart is scheduled to open the school year with classes beginning on Monday. Students were just beginning to arrive back to the university.
A candlelight vigil was held at the school Friday night.

“The thoughts and prayers of the entire Sacred Heart University community are with the student and her family,” the statement from the school said, according to WFSB 3.
Doorhy was struck by a red Nissan coupe that was heading northbound on Madison Avenue, WFSB said.
Doorhy and another female were crossing the street. The second woman crossed ahead of Doorhy, which caused the vehicle to swerve and hit Doorhy, WFSB 3 reports.
The accident remains under investigation.
