Via the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce: FAIRFIELD, CT — Santa is visiting Fairfield on Sunday. Santa Claus, played by Joe Skarupa, a perennial Santa-about-town, will arrive by hook-and-ladder down Reef Road at 10 a.m. He will sit in the gazebo on Sherman Green until about 2 p.m., listening to the wishes of children. Santa’s elves will give each child a small holiday gift.

The free community event, in its 19th year, is made available through the support of the chamber’s members: event sponsor ACBI Insurance, and AFC Urgent Care, The Goddard School, Maplewood Senior Living, F45 Training, Choice Pet Fairfield, and LCP General Contractors LLC.

As in the past, the children’s petting zoo will return from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., weather permitting, as well as the much-anticipated horse-and-wagon rides from about 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., sponsored by Bigelow Tea, Fairfield University, Westy Self Storage, Delamar Southport and Splash Car Wash.

Snappy Dawgs food truck will sell breakfast sandwiches and coffee plus lunch items like hamburgers and hotdogs, and a variety drinks. DJ Scott Nickel will provide traditional holiday music, creating a festive feeling as children walk up into the gazebo to see Santa.

The chamber has also invited nonprofit organizations to distribute information about their charitable community outreach efforts and/or sell holiday items to support their programs. Holiday face painting and free hot chocolate and cider will be offered as well. The Kiwanis Club of Fairfield will be taking orders for poinsettia plants and Fairfield Rotary will be selling fresh wreaths.

In the case of heavy snow or rain, the event will be canceled. For current information, check the chamber’s website at FairfieldCTChamber.com or call 203-255-1011.
