School Bus Catches Fire In Fairfield: Schools Superintendent

No students were onboard at the time, according to Schools Superintendent Michael Testani.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A school bus caught fire while on Richard White Way in Fairfield Monday afternoon, according to Schools Superintendent Michael Testani, who added that no students were onboard at the time.

Additionally, the bus driver was not injured.

"The Fairfield Fire Department was dispatched quickly to the scene to manage the situation," Testani said in a statement. "The cause of the fire is still under investigation."

To help ensure safety, Fairfield Public Schools "works collaboratively" with the district's bus provider, and with emergency responders, throughout the school year to make sure drivers are trained in case of an emergency.

In addition, students also practice emergency bus safety during the year.
