Several Road Closures Reported In Fairfield: Police

FAIRFIELD, CT — Due to the flooding from Monday's rainstorm, the Fairfield Police Department announced that "most underpasses in Fairfield are currently flooded" will be closed until conditions improve.

"Please avoid railroad and highway underpasses, especially if you see water beginning to rise," officials wrote in a statement. "Even shallow-looking water can quickly become deep enough to disable a vehicle or create a dangerous situation."

Additionally, drivers should also be on the lookout for "fallen trees, debris in roadways, and dislodged manhole covers that may be difficult to see beneath standing water."

At least one vehicle was stuck in floodwaters on Monday morning, according to Fairfield police.

"Please choose an alternate route and help us keep everyone safe."
