Some In Fairfield Without Water After Main Break
The break also led to flooding in the Post Road area.
FAIRFIELD, CT — A main break along one of Fairfield’s most central and heavily trafficked streets left several residents without water Thursday.
The incident occurred about 1 p.m., according to police, who arrived at the Post Road near Eliot Place just as the street was starting to flood, and who then blocked the area with tape and cones. Aquarion was notified and was on the scene mid-afternoon Thursday.
The 8-inch water main was expected to be fixed by 11 p.m. Thursday, according to Aquarion's website, which said about 25 customers were effected across the following areas: Belmont Street, Benson Place, Eliot Place, Kings Highway, North Benson Road and the Post Road.

"During and after the outage event, some customers may experience discolored water," Aquarion warned on its website. "You may want to use stored water for drinking and cooking, and delay clothes washing until water is clear. Run your cold water faucet until the water appears clear, prior to resuming use for these purposes."
