Corvette Crash In Fairfield Seriously Injures Stamford Man: CSP
The high-speed crash occurred just after midnight Monday on I-95, according to Connecticut State Police.
FAIRFIELD, CT — A 41-year-old Stamford man was seriously injured early Monday when he crashed a Chevrolet Corvette he was driving into a guardrail on Interstate 95 in Fairfield, according to Connecticut State Police.
The extent of the driver's injuries and his condition were not known, but he was being treated in St. Vincent's Medical Center. No one else was in the vehicle, and no other injuries were reported.
Authorities said the crash occurred just after midnight southbound near Exit 23, when the driver "failed to maintain control" of the Corvette and "veered through the right lane and into the right shoulder."

At that point, the vehicle struck the metal beam guardrail and light pole in the right should, state police said, wiping out the pole and "approximately 120 feet" of the guardrail.
The crash disabled the Corvette, and airbags were deployed, according to police.

As a result of the crash, the driver was charged with the following:
- Operating a Motor Vehicle Under Suspension
- Failure to Maintain Proper Lane
- Traveling Too Fast for Conditions
