Stolen Car Tied To Theft Of Vehicle With Teen Inside Is Found: Fairfield Police

A car believed to have been involved in a Fairfield vehicle theft was found, and two juveniles were charged, police said.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A car believed to have been involved in a vehicle theft Monday in Fairfield was found Tuesday, and two juveniles were charged with having the car, according to police.

The black Dodge Charger, which had a misused Connecticut plate, was recovered about 3 p.m. in Bridgeport by the Bridgeport Regional Auto Theft Task Force, police said. The minors were taken into custody and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, but as of Tuesday night were not confirmed to be the occupants of the car during the Fairfield theft, according to police.

The theft was reported about 6:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of the Post Road, police said, when a man entered a vehicle that was running and occupied by a teen, told the teen to get out, and drove the vehicle to Bridgeport, and onto Interstate 95 and Route 8, police said. The vehicle was later found abandoned on Caroline Street in Derby, according to police.

Near the scene of the crime in Fairfield, the Charger was reported fleeing with the stolen vehicle, according to police, who said the occupants of the Charger are believed to have been working with the thief.

The Charger was also involved in a similar incident about 5 p.m. Monday in Waterbury, according to police.

“Further investigation into both the Fairfield and Waterbury incidents will continue until the suspects involved are positively identified,” police said.
