Student At Fairfield Private School Has Coronavirus

Fairfield's health department has been in contact with the families of all affected town residents.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A student at one of Fairfield’s private schools has tested positive for the coronavirus, according to town officials.

First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick said in her weekly email to residents that the town was notified Thursday about the case, and that students and staff who had close contact with the student who tested positive have been required to quarantine for two weeks.

Fairfield’s health department has been in contact with the families of all town residents involved and has notified the health departments of other towns where affected students reside, she said.

Kupchick did not name the school that had the case, and in an email Health Department Director Sands Cleary said town health departments have been advised by the state that school administrators should notify their school communities directly about positive coronavirus cases.

“The principal of the school has made multiple communications to the school community,” Cleary said.
