Suspect Accused Of Stealing $1,200 Worth Of Items From Stop & Shop In Fairfield: Police

The incident occurred earlier this month at the Villa Avenue store, according to authorities.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A 30-year-old East Haven man was arrested on a larceny charge earlier this month, after police said he stole $1,200 worth of merchandise from the Stop & Shop on Villa Avenue in Fairfield, Patch has learned.

Ryan Carafeno was arrested on a fourth-degree larceny charge on April 17.

The incident began at about 6:30 p.m. when Fairfield police were alerted to a shoplifting in progress.

"Carafeno was apprehended by officers after leaving the store with $1,200 worth of merchandise, including health and beauty products and alcoholic beverages," Sgt. Jenna Wellington told Patch. "All items were recovered by store personnel."

Carafeno was released on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on Thursday.
