Swearing-In Ceremony For Fairfield First Selectman-Elect Monday

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield First Selectman-elect Bill Gerber and Selectwoman-elect Christine Vitale, in addition to other recently elected officials, will be sworn into office during a ceremony at 7 p.m. Monday in the Fairfield Warde High School Auditorium.

Democrats Gerber and Vitale defeated incumbent Republican Brenda Kupchick and candidate Brian Farnen in the Nov. 7 election, a night that also saw Democrats gained several seats on the Representative Town Meeting.

"We are incredibly honored to have been chosen by the people of Fairfield to represent them and work on their behalf," Gerber said in a statement. "This ceremony also formally allows our community's devoted local leaders to begin working to provide the best quality government to the people of Fairfield."

The public is welcomed to attend Monday's ceremony, as members will be sworn into their new posts, including the following:

• Board of Selectmen
• Board of Finance
• Board of Education
• Representative Town Meeting
• Town Planning and Zoning Commission

Gov. Ned Lamont will administer the oath of office to First Selectman-elect Gerber, and Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz will be administering the other to Selectman-elect Vitale. State and local officials will also be in attendance.
