'Unresponsive' Swimmer Pulled From Lake Mohegan
More than 30 minutes passed between the first 911 calls about the incident and when the swimmer was found underwater.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A swimmer was taken to the hospital Sunday evening more than half an hour after responders learned he was in distress, according to a news release from the Fairfield Fire Department. The incident was reported at 6:47 p.m., when multiple 911 calls came in about the swimmer — a man in his 30s — at Lake Mohegan.
A number of bystanders and family members tried to bring the swimmer to shore, but could not keep him above the water, the news release stated. The fire department sent several engines and other vehicles to the scene, and police responded as well. Divers found the swimmer underwater at 7:20 p.m., according to the news release, which stated he was "unresponsive." Crews brought the swimmer to shore and he was taken to an area hospital.
A relative of the swimmer was also taken to a nearby hospital, the news release stated.
