FAIRFIELD, CT — A rock ’n’ roll power couple with ties to Fairfield County are speaking out after they were struck by a drunken driver while traveling in Connecticut, according to a social media post.

Chris Frantz of the Talking Heads took to Facebook to discuss the crash, which injured his wife and bandmate, Tina Weymouth, he said.

“Two weeks ago tonight I was driving on the Post Road, U.S. Route 1 with Tina Weymouth when we were struck head-on by a drunk driver who was driving on the wrong side of the road,” Frantz said in the Facebook post, which he published Sunday morning.

“Incredibly, we walked away from the collision. Tina had a cat scan and suffered three fractured ribs and a fractured sternum. She’s been in a lot of pain but she will get better with time.”

The Facebook post was accompanied by a photo of the couple’s vehicle after the crash — a white Ford with heavy front-end damage.

Weymouth is “a bit banged up in the accident but is resting and doing well,” according to a representative, quoted in Pitchfork. “With the type of injury she had, rest is a key part of the recovery process. Chris is taking good care of her.”

The Talking Heads were an art rock band that rose to prominence in the 1970s and remained popular through the 1980s. In addition to drummer Frantz and bassist Weymouth, its members included singer and guitarist David Byrne and keyboardist Jerry Harrison. The band’s work includes such hits as “Psycho Killer” and “Burning Down the House.” In 2002, the Talking Heads were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Frantz, 70, and Weymouth, 71, married in 1977 and formed another band, the Tom Tom Club. In addition to residences in New York City, the couple have had many homes in Fairfield County over the years, including in Fairfield, Southport and Westport, according to Lexis Nexis.
