Timeline Of Rain To Snow And Record Cold Temps Released For CT
This weather forecast for Connecticut has everything in it, rain, snow, strong wind gusts, record cold temps and more.
CONNECTICUT — If you're looking forward to seeing snowflakes then your best chance is around noon until 4 p.m. today but don't look to see any real accumulation except for a possible dusting of snow. Far northern parts of the state might see up to one inch of snow.
The real weather story isn't the random snowflakes you might see today, it's the record-breaking cold that will move in tonight. Temperatures this morning are still in the mid 50s but by this afternoon will fall to around the freezing mark.
And then temps will drop into the upper teens, but with the wind chill factor included it will feel much colder than that. Temps are going to remain freezing until a very brief warmup on Friday where temps will surge to 50 again before turning much colder, but also dryer this weekend.

"This will allow for the rain to mix with or briefly change over to all snow before ending. Little, if any accumulation is expected. Precipitation will end from west to east by early to mid afternoon. Conditions will then become windy as an area of low pressure that passes well to our north and west strengthens. Gusts of 30 to 40 mph are possible, especially along the coast.
"Very cold and record low temperatures are expected tonight. Lows will range from the teens to lower 20s, even along the coast... Combined with the wind, it will feel like single digits below zero in some inland areas, to teens above zero along the coast and into the metro area. Dry and cold conditions are expected for Wednesday with temperatures not getting out of the 30s. Winds will diminish, but it will still feel like the 20s during the warmest part of the day."
For Hartford, Tolland and Windham counties, the weather service says in a Hazardous Weather Outlook that " Rain will change to a very brief period of snow before ending this afternoon into early this evening. Snow accumulations of a coating to perhaps up to 1 inch are possible in the highest terrain. Some slippery spots will be possible later today, mainly in the high terrain.
WTNH News 8 Chief Meteorologist Gil Simmons says, "A little bit of everything today! Mild temperatures early then falling all day long! Rain coming in for the morning mixing with snow and changing to snow midday through early afternoon. I am not expecting big amounts with a coating for most areas! However, I do want you to dress for 18° as that is what it will feel like with the wind when you come home later on today! The wind chill tomorrow morning will be anywhere between 0° and 12°!"
Good morning! Huge temperature changes coming today! With the dropping midday-afternoon temps, the rain will mix with then change to snow. Most of it should be done by 4PM. Not much accumulation, but coating to 1” covers it. Join us at 4AM on @WTNH & have a good Tue! pic.twitter.com/moxL5mdRmL

Forecast still on track so far this morning with some light rain switching to light snow during the day. Little to no accumulation (up to an inch in the hills). The big story is the falling temperatures... Get ready for a blast of cold air! pic.twitter.com/xeRXijwyIJ

By November standards, it's a warm morning! 40s and 50s to start the day, but that will NOT be the case for the rest of today. With those warm temperatures this morning, we start out with rain, changing to snow by late AM/early PM from west to east as temps drop. pic.twitter.com/ezYwetE7RQ
