Town of Fairfield Will Honor Little League Heroes on Saturday
The team will ride in a parade starting at 2 p.m. and receive a key to the town from Fairfield First Selectman Ken Flatto
The New England champion Fairfield American Little Leaguers will receive a parade in their honor on Saturday, when Fairfield hosts a town-wide celebration to recognize the team's accomplishments.
Starting at 2 p.m. on Saturday, the team and town and state officials will parade from the Fairfield Library on Old Post Road to the historic green by the Fairfield Museum and History Center.
This year's 10-, 11- and 12-year-old boys' American Little League district teams and the girls' softball champions also will be honored for their victories.

The town invites all residents and area fans to line the parade route and then join in the celebration.
Fairfield First Selectman Ken Flatto will present the team with a key to the town, then issue certificates of congratulations to all the team members.

Fairfield American became the first team from Fairfield to play in the Little League World Series in the 64-year history of the prestigious event.
"It's very exciting for the Fairfield community to be part of such a special and historic time that we will all remember for decades to come," Flatto said. "We are extremely proud of the Fairfield American Little League team and commend them for their spirit, hard work, and sportsmanship."
The team will spend one more day in Williamsport before returning home on Thursday morning.
The traveling party is expected to arrive at the Sherman Green Gazebo around 2:15 p.m, and town officials and residents are invited to meet and greet the players and coaches.
Fairfield American was eliminated from the LLWS on Tuesday night with a 9-5 loss to Auburn, Washington, a team it defeated, 3-1, in the first round of the tournament last Friday.
Fairfield American was one of six remaining U.S. teams in the field and 12 overall. There are more than 7,000 Little Leagues world-wide.
Auburn advanced to Wednesday's pool B final against Pearland, Texas, and the Fairfield American team may watch that game. The Little League world champion will be crowned on Sunday afternoon.
