Tractor-Trailer Crash On I-95 In Fairfield Causes 23-Mile Backup
Due to the crash, the northbound interstate was congested from Exit 2 in Greenwich all the way to Exit 21 in Fairfield.
FAIRFIELD, CT — A crash involving a tractor-trailer and a second vehicle caused major congestion Monday on Interstate 95, according to state officials.
The incident was reported just before 3 p.m. on the northbound interstate between Exits 19 and 21, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation, which noted the right lane was closed. By about 3:45 p.m., the road had fully reopened.
Immediately following the crash, the northbound interstate was backed up for 23 miles, from Exit 2 in Greenwich all the way to Exit 21 in Fairfield, according to the department.
