‘Tragic’ Situation Averted In Chimney Fire In Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, CT — Quick action by a homeowner helped prevent what could have become a tragic situation with a chimney fire Friday night in Fairfield, according to fire officials. Firefighters responded to a chimney fire in the Stratfield section of town on Friday night.

“Early notification by the homeowner prevented what could have become a very tragic situation,” the fire department wrote in a post on Facebook. “Please make sure you have your chimney flue cleaned annually if you use your fireplace. Enjoy the holidays from all of us at your local fire station!!!”
