Tree Worker Falls More than 40 Feet in Fairfield

The man fell from a tree he was trimming at a residential property.

A tree worker fell more than 40 feet from a tree he was trimming at a residential property in Fairfield on Monday afternoon.

First responders from the Fairfield Fire Department found the man on the ground in the rear of the house on Rock Major Road upon arrival. The Fairfield Emergency Communications Center had received a call at about 12:23 p.m. about the injured worker.

Under the Command of Assistant Chief Schuyler Sherwood, fire personnel immediately began treating the patient, who was conscious and responsive and didn’t appear to have life-threatening injuries, according to a press release.

The worker told fire personnel that he had an issue with his climbing spikes that caused him to fall. Newly appointed Deputy Chief Kyran Dunn was on scene and assisted with incident coordination and control.

American Medical Response arrived shortly after the fire department. Multiple responders from the Fire Department and AMR were required to remove the patient from the wooded area. The patient was transported by AMR.

The Connecticut Occupational Safety and Health Administration was requested and responded to the scene. Fairfield Police responded with multiple units and provided scene security and support. The Fire Department remained on scene until approximately 1:01 p.m.
