Treglia Tosses One-Hitter As Warde Softball Blanks Norwalk, 2-0

Mustangs conclude regular season at 15-5 and face Darien in first round of FCIAC playoffs

Gina Treglia tossed a one-hitter Friday, as the Fairfield Warde softball team wrapped up the regular season with a 2-0 victory over Norwalk.

Stacey Dileo and Nikki Schettino had RBI doubles for the Mustangs (16-4, 14-4), who will be the No. 5 seed in the FCIAC playoffs. Warde plays at No. 4 Darien on Monday.

The Mustangs missed opportunities to score more runs, reaching Norwalk starter Nikki Taliercio for seven hits, but one run was enough for Treglia.

After starting the season 10-0, the Mustangs dropped four of their next seven game, including a 9-8 defeat to city rival Ludlowe. However, Warde rebounded to win its final three regular-season games by a combined score of 28-3. Included in that stretch was a 21-0 romp over Harding.

The winner of the Warde-Darien game takes on either top seed and undefeated Westhill or Stamford in the FCIAC semifinals.
