Two More Fairfield American Teams Reach State Final

11- and 12-year-olds captured section one titles on Wednesday

Two more Fairfield American teams will play for state championships, as the 11- and 12-year-old All-Stars clinched their berths Wednesday night.

The 10-year-olds defeated East Haven, 14-9, while the 12-year-olds downed Farmington, 8-3, to each capture section one crowns.

The nine-year-olds already have won a state title and will be competing this weekend in the inaugural Eastern Regional Invitational in Cranston,  Rhode Island.

In the state championships, the 11-year-olds will take on the section two winner - South Windsor National or Madison - in a two-out-of-three series that gets under way Saturday in New London.

The 12-year-olds square off with Madison beginning Saturday at Bridgeport's Blackham Field (12:30 p.m.)

The three Fairfield American teams now have a combined record of 38-1.
