'Unauthorized Person' Near Tracks In Fairfield Leads To Train Shutdown

FAIRFIELD, CT — An "unauthorized person" spotted near Metro-North train tracks in Southport Tuesday night led to the cancellation of the 6:12 p.m. train from Grand Central Terminal in New York to Bridgeport, according to officials with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

To accommodate the temporarily inconvenienced rail passengers, Metro-North instructed them to take the 6:31 p.m. train from Grand Central to New Haven.

Officials posted about the incident on X, formerly known as Twitter, but additional details were not immediately available.
