Vehicle Burglaries Spike At Fairfield Cinemas, BJ's: Police
Since Dec. 30, there have been 12 incidents where car windows were broken and items were stolen from the vehicles, according to police.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield shoppers and moviegoers are encouraged not to leave valuables in their cars, as police have seen a recent spike in vehicle burglaries at the shopping center that includes Fairfield Cinemas and BJ's Wholesale Club.
Since Dec. 30, there have been 12 incidents where car windows were broken and items were stolen from the vehicles, according to Capt. Robert Kalamaras. In most cases, the suspects stole paperwork, loose change, cash, wallets, purses, headphones, CDs and other items normally found in a car, Kalamaras said in an email.
The thefts appear to be most likely to occur when movies are showing in the afternoon, evening and overnight, according to Kalamaras.

"These thieves are opportunists, if they see something valuable inside the car, they will break-in to get it if the opportunity arises," Kalamaras said in the email.
People visiting the businesses, both located at 40 Black Rock Turnpike, should take their valuables with them when they park their car or put the valuables in the trunk, according to Kalamaras.
