FAIRFIELD, CT — Firefighters battled the cold and blizzard-like conditions while extinguishing a vehicle fire on I-95 in Fairfield during Thursday’s snowstorm. The fire was reported just before 12 noon and closed a lane on I-95 North between Exits 22 and 23, according to the state DOT.

“Engine 1 and Rescue 1 battle car fire on I95 northbound near the rest area,” the fire department wrote in a post on Facebook. “Blinding snow, gale force winds, and a frozen nozzle caused by the arctic cold made a routine fire difficult.”
