Vehicle Owner Confronts Burglar In Fairfield: Police
The incident was one of many vehicle-related crimes reported over the holiday weekend, according to Fairfield police.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A vehicle owner confronted a burglary suspect during a late-night vehicle break-in over the holiday weekend, according to Fairfield police.
The incident was reported about 11:30 p.m. Saturday in the 300 block of Sky Top Drive, police said. The suspect fled the owner, dropping a set of keys, which the owner then picked up and threw at the suspect, according to police, who said the suspect was reported to have had a gun tucked in his pants and to have fled in a dark-colored SUV toward Church Hill Road.

- 3 a.m. Friday, 700 block of Oldfield Road: Person in silver Audi checked handle of car parked in driveway, similar vehicle sped away from police around the same time.
- 4:41 a.m. Friday, 3400 block of Redding Road: Caller awoke, and, upon seeing two people breaking into car, beeped horn, causing burglars to speed away. Nothing stolen.
- 7:12 a.m. Friday, Flax Road: Vehicle stolen overnight.
- 8:30 a.m. Friday, 3900 block of Redding Road: Ring camera footage showed people trying to enter car earlier in the morning.
- 11:01 a.m. Friday, 3100 block of North Street: Vehicle entered overnight, sunglasses and other items stolen.
- 3:16 p.m. Friday, 400 block of Cornell Road: Two unlocked vehicles in driveway rummaged through between noon and 3 p.m., $20 in change stolen.
- 5:41 p.m. Saturday, Benton Street: Unlocked vehicle reported to have been entered about 4 a.m. on Thursday or Friday.
- 12:49 a.m. Sunday, 400 block of Valley Road: Gray SUV checking car doors.
- 9:03 a.m. Sunday, Flax Road: Unlocked vehicle reported to have been entered the night of Thursday or Friday, several cards stolen.
- 10:43 a.m. Sunday, 100 block of Harwich Road: Two unlocked vehicles entered overnight, nothing stolen.
- 11:18 a.m. Sunday, 100 block of Chatham Road: Vehicle broken into 1 a.m., registration and insurance papers stolen, neighbor has video footage.
