FAIRFIELD, CT — Veteran Fairfield Police Officer Douglas Katz was named Officer of the Quarter, for Oct. 14 through Jan. 14, 2023, for his outstanding work on the Fairfield Force, officials announced.

"The Officer of the Quarter program is in place to recognize officers who understand, embrace, support, and further the Fairfield Police Department’s mission to 'Make Fairfield Safer,'" officials wrote in a statement.

Katz, who is the department's first two-time winner of the award, was recognized for his exemplary efforts in the following character traits:
