Warde Boys Soccer Routs Harding To Improve FCIAC Playoff Chances
Guthrie Carpenter and Brian Regan each score twice as Mustangs rout Presidents, 6-1, to tie New Canaan for sixth in FCIAC race

Guthrie Carpenter and Brian Regan each scored two goals as the Fairfield Warde boys' soccer team kept its FCIAC playoff hopes alive with a 6-1 victory over winless Harding on Tuesday afternoon.
Connor Gavey and Kevin Petroccio also scored for the Mustangs, who improved to 6-3-3.
With the win, Warde climbed into a sixth-place tie with New Canaan in the FCIAC with 21 points, one ahead of Trumbull and Bridgeport Central.

The top eight teams make the playoffs, and Warde has league games remaining against St. Joseph and Greenwich.
The game against Greenwich, which is Mustangs' regular-season finale on Oct. 27, will be a tough test, as the Cardinals are tied with Staples for second place.

On Monday, Warde plays at St. Joseph, which is out of playoff contention.
Ross Anderson had two two assists against Harding (0-10-1), and Taylor Rosenblum, Patrick Kerrigan, Kevin Ross and Brian Luchsinger each added one.
Dylan Strachen and Patrick McGuiness each made one save for the Mustangs, who out-shot the Presidents, 26-3.
