Watering Restrictions Will Be Mandatory For Fairfield In 2022

Starting next spring, Fairfielders will be allowed to run their sprinklers only two days a week for limited hours.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield residents will be required to follow a sprinkler schedule starting next year.

Several nearby towns are already under the water conservation mandate, but participation in the schedule is currently voluntary for Aquarion Water Co. customers in Fairfield, according to the company, which said compliance with the restrictions will be required for Fairfielders in 2022.

The twice-weekly irrigation schedule runs April 1 to Oct. 31, and saves millions of gallons per year, according to Aquarion. Towns already under the mandate include Darien, East Granby, Granby, Greenwich, New Canaan, Newtown, Simsbury, Stamford and Westport.
