The Watermark at 3030 Park Celebrates 50th Anniversary
Celebrating 50 Years Strong with Time Capsule Reveal and Newly Published History Book Showcasing 50 Years Of Senior Community
The Watermark at 3030 Park has been celebrating their 50th anniversary all year which included the grand finale gala which took place on October 17th. Residents and associates alike enjoyed a resident chorus directed by Lee Berentsen, cocktail hour entertainment by jazz musician Chris Coogan, an elegant dinner and then dessert served alongside the classic big band sounds of the Fairfield Counts Premier Swing band.
Additionally, part of the celebration included the unveiling of a time capsule filled with documents from 1968 – 1978. Most of the archives represented original documents like a roster of the residents from that time, committee member names, community stories, news clippings and more. The biggest surprise in the time capsule was a petrified banana peel. Because the community was popular with retired teachers of all fields, attendees speculated that the banana peel may have been part of a biodegradability science experiment.
At the end of the evening, each attendee received a very special book created by the residents of The Watermark. This keepsake showcases the history of the community while introducing residents and associates who presently live and work at The Watermark. Copies of the book are complimentary to the greater community and are available on a first come first served basis at The Watermark at 3030 Park, the Fairfield Library, downtown Bridgeport Library, Bridgeport North Library and the Trumbull Library.
