Wednesday's FairTV Commission Meeting In Fairfield Canceled

The commission was going to revisit an earlier decision not to air the upcoming Fairfield fill pile trial.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A meeting of the FairTV Commission scheduled for Wednesday, during which the commission was going to revisit whether to air the upcoming Fairfield fill pile trial, has been canceled due to a lack of a quorum, according to officials.

A rescheduled date has not yet been announced, but commission Chair David Kraft is working on scheduling a special meeting in the near future, officials said.

In July, the commission voted unanimously not to air the trial, which is slated to begin at Bridgeport Superior Court next month.

At the time, the commission believed "that the current charter for FairTV does not support coverage of the trial," though the commission wrote to the court seeking permission to air the sentencing of Scott Bartlett in July, and the upcoming trial.

Judge Tracy Lee Dayton granted the commission permission to air the sentencing, but put off a decision on the trial until closer to the proceedings.

Bartlett's sentencing, in which he was sent to prison for 18 months in connection with the illegal dumping and corruption case, was not broadcast, because the commission had already voted not to air it.

Bartlett and defendants Emmet Hibson, Brian Carey, Robert Mayer, Jason Julian and Robert Grabarek are slated for the upcoming trial.
