Good Samaritans helped bring the occupants of the capsized sailboat to shore Sunday near Sasco Beach.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Good Samaritans helped bring the occupants of a sailboat to shore Sunday after the vessel capsized near Sasco Beach, according to a Fairfield fire official.

Emergency personnel received a report 4:15 p.m. about people in the water after a sailing dory from Westport capsized about 100 yards from shore, Assistant Chief George Gomola said. When the vessel capsized, nearby boaters towed the dory to shore and helped the occupants of the vessel safely reach land, according to Gomola, who said no one was injured in the incident.

Police and firefighters worked together to stabilize and drain the dory before Fairfield police towed it back to Westport, Gomola said. The Fairfield Fire Department, Fairfield Police Department and Westport Police Department responded to the scene.
