CONNECTICUT — Our odd weather continues in Connecticut this winter. It appears that we have a better chance of hearing thunderstorms rather than seeing snowflakes as we close out the month of February.

A strengthening storm will bring heavy rain to Connecticut Wednesday night and the National Weather Service says we may even hear some thunderstorms in parts of the state. This isn't a big deal except for the fact that we're in February and snow continues to be missing in action.

And that doesn't appear to be changing anytime soon. WTNH News 8 Chief Meteorologist Gil Simmons posted on social media that," Well snow haters...this is your pattern! This is a forecast map with the total accumulated snow through the 5th of March! A big 0 for SNE and some nice amounts for Northern New England."

Connecticut has been stuck in a winter-long pattern where we are just missing out on snow while areas of northern New England are still seeing snowstorms.

On social media, WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Ashley Baylor told Simmons that even Alabama currently has a better chance for snow that Connecticut.

A Gloomy Forecast For The Next Few Days

Connecticut will see some sporadic light rain showers today, more rain on Wednesday, especially late at night, and yes some more light rain on Thursday morning before we see some clearing in the afternoon. Temps will also grow colder beginning on Friday and through the weekend.

Our best chance for thunderstorms is after midnight on Wednesday.

The National Weather Service says, "Rain chances will increase this morning, with light rain becoming likely during the afternoon. While the steadiest rain will come to an end tonight, chances of drizzle and light rain will linger through the day on Wednesday. Rain chances then increase again Wednesday night as another, more potent, area of low pressure approaches the region. A few rumbles of thunder are possible during the overnight hours as well."

"While still above normal, high temperatures both today and Wednesday will be noticeably cooler, topping out in the upper 40s to around 50 both days. Overnight lows will range from the mid 30s
to around 40, about 10 degrees above normal," the weather service adds.
