FARMINGTON, CT — Farmington residents can get ready for fall bulky waste pickup the week of Oct. 19; the town has posted early voting details for the Nov. 3 election, and the Town Council and Town Plan and Zoning Commission both meet this week.

Here are five things to know about life around Farmington this week:

1. Fall Bulky Waste Pickup Starts Oct. 19
When: Week of Oct. 19-23, on your regular trash day; put items out the night before
Where: Farmington Highway & Grounds Division, Town Hall, 20 Monteith Drive
What to know: Residents who pay for town trash service can put bulky items at the curb the night before their regular collection day during the week of Oct. 19, according to the town. Limits include two pieces of large furniture, two appliances with doors removed, two tires off their rims, two plumbing fixtures, and 10 bags of household items. Tires, appliances and metal, and dry mattresses go in separate piles 4 feet from the carts. Building materials, electronics, paint, and hazardous waste are not accepted. Questions go to 860-675-2550.

2. Early Voting Begins Oct. 19 At Town Hall
When: Early voting Oct. 19-Nov. 1; Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3
Where: Farmington Town Hall, third-floor Training Room, 20 Monteith Drive
What to know: Early voting for the Nov. 3 election runs Oct. 19 through Nov. 1 in the third-floor Training Room at Town Hall, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with hours extended to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 27 and Oct. 29, according to the town. On Election Day, polls are open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Irving Robbins Middle School, West Woods Upper Elementary School, the Community and Senior Center in Unionville, and Town Hall. Same-day registration is at Town Hall on Election Day. Questions go to the registrars at 860-675-2367.

3. Town Council Meets
When: Tuesday, Oct. 13, 7 p.m.
Where: Farmington Town Hall, 20 Monteith Drive
What to know: The Town Council is scheduled to meet, according to the town's meeting calendar. As of Thursday, Oct. 8, no agenda had been posted.

4. TPZ, Water Pollution Control, Bicycle Panel Meet Wednesday
When: Wednesday, Oct. 14, 7 p.m.
Where: Farmington Town Hall, 20 Monteith Drive
What to know: The Town Plan and Zoning Commission and Aquifer Protection Agency, the Water Pollution Control Authority and the Bicycle Advisory Committee are all scheduled to meet, according to the town's meeting calendar. None had posted an agenda as of Thursday, Oct. 8.

5. Town Offices Closed Monday
When: Monday, Oct. 12; reopen Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.
Where: Farmington Town Hall, 20 Monteith Drive
What to know: Town offices are closed Monday, Oct. 12, for Indigenous Peoples' Day and Columbus Day, according to the town. Trash, recycling and bulky waste collection days don't change for residents served by the town's contractor.
